“I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; that you may love the
LORD your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days; and that you may dwell in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham,
Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.” – Deuteronomy 30:19-20 (NKJV)
It wasn’t until I was about 42 years old that I realized I had lived my life in opposition to this scripture. Not intentionally, but in reality. I didn’t embrace the life God had given me. I grew up in difficult circumstances
and with a lot of fear. I hid from life, and that was not God’s plan for me.
Because my spirit turned away from life, my body was out of whack. I had lots of injuries and illnesses as a child. As I grew older, I nearly died of cancer. My spirit wasn’t choosing life, so my body followed suit.
Once I learned about this sin of not embracing fully the life God had given me – body, soul, and spirit – I repented, and decided to start choosing life, deliberately, every day.
Since then, I’ve been healed of cancer and so many other afflictions. God was so faithful and good to see me through from death wish to full life. I am grateful.
Lord, sometimes when we go through difficult things, especially as a child, it’s hard to fully choose the life You gave us. We may not outwardly blame You for our circumstances, but inwardly we are turning against
Your plan. Sickness and injury often result from our turning from life. But You have a plan – to help us choose life, that we can freely and fully live as the people You created us to be. Thank You for life, God. And
thank You for helping us to choose life. In Jesus’ name. Amen
Thought for the Day
Are you choosing life?
