“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.” – John 15:4 (NKJV)
Life comes with aches and pains. That’s just reality. If we are serving Christ, often it seems we experience more than our share of suffering. He told us we would. Often physical illness is a direct result of the issues
of our heart. But sometimes we get sick or injured just because we live in a world that hasn’t come into full redemption. Aches and pains are a part of life.
This is why it matters how we live.
If we are living in the presence of God, intentionally, every day, the aches and pains won’t necessarily be less. But we will experience less in them.
When I am fully present with God, and abiding in His peace, I can still stub my toe – and indeed I have! But the pain passes quickly and doesn’t affect my whole being. It doesn’t bring me down like it would on days
when I’m not abiding in Him.
Even in situations where the pain lingers more, like a more serious injury, I can tell a difference in my demeanor and recovery based on whether or not I am abiding in God’s presence.
When we abide in God, we receive all of His life from Him. That is amazing. And let’s not wait till we are injured to turn to Him. The more we live in Him, the more we will be filled with His healing when times get
Lord, thank You that when we abide in You, we have Your life flowing through us. In this place of abiding, You can do amazing things in and through us. Help us continue to abide daily in You, and when we forget,
remind us! In Jesus’ name. Amen
Thought for the Day
Abide in Him. That is the best medicine you will ever take.
