Depending on God for Every Word

I gave a talk yesterday. I’ve always enjoyed giving talks and the idea doesn’t make me nervous. Many other things make me nervous, but not giving talks.

However, in the past I’ve always written at least an outline of what I’m going to say. I’m not very good at reading a paper, so I don’t write out what I’m going to say and read it. But I at least have an outline – or I write things out and commit them to memory, so I can talk freely.

This time, I didn’t feel led to write an outline or even to put my thoughts together ahead of time. The Lord gave me a passage of Scripture, allowed me to meditate on the passage while He brought certain things to light … and then I knew I would need to depend on Him to deliver what He wanted me to share.

Talk about stretching! For me … that was a big stretch. I’ll talk more about the end result tomorrow.
